My kids are CRAZY about stickers. It seems like I just can't buy enough of them! So I was pretty excited when I learned how easy it was to make our own.
Here's what you'll need:
-wax paper
-Scissors, craft punches or an Xacto knife
STEP ONE: Decide what you want to make. Then you're going to trace or freehand the shape you're after onto a sheet of wax paper. I decided to make some sunglasses to go on one of my daughter's new notebooks for school. I printed out a free template online, then placed my wax paper over top of it and traced it with a marker.
PRO TIP: Cookie cutters make great sticker templates as well. Just trace around your favorite shapes and you are good to go.
STEP TWO: Line one side of the wax paper with rows of tape. Be sure to overlap each row so your sticker doesn't fall to pieces when you go to remove it.
STEP THREE: Flip your wax paper over and cut out your shape. The transparency of the wax paper makes this part super easy.
STEP FOUR: Peel off your sticker and apply! For best results, start to peel at the corner opposite of where you finished taping. Apply pressure to the sticker once you have it in place and you are done.
You can apply a coat of Mod Podge, some clear packing tape or some contact paper if you're worried about durability. I chose to make my glasses all one color, but you can mix colors and patterns within a sticker as well, as seen below:
Heavy duty craft punches work as well and make it easier to get precisely cut shapes. Check out this bubble notebook I made for my teenager using a 2" and a 1/2" circle punch:
Like I said, there's not much to it. So what are you waiting for? It's time to get crafting!
